Watch the mill produce the first stone-ground maize meal in over a decade

Work Party 6-7 August 2022

Ready to operate: Reichenau Millstones turn again after 13 years

On Saturday 6th August 2022 the Reichenau Mill began milling again for the first time since 2009. A group of volunteers have been working tirelessly this year to get the mill back into service. Holding monthly work parties, this was the fifth. It marked a milestone in that the mill produced its first batch of stone-ground yellow maize meal using water-power from the Polela River.

Planning is to commence milling wheat to produce stone ground flour this next month, and an official Launch/Open day is scheduled for Saturday 22nd October 2022.
